Project TANAW (Topographical and Angular Assessment of City Works) is a groundbreaking initiative that aims to revolutionize urban planning, modeling, and simulation using the latest in projected Augmented Reality (AR) technology. Spearheaded by the local government of Catbalogan City in partnership with Samar State University's (SSU) GIS and Data Analytics Center, the project promises to provide unprecedented levels of accuracy and detail in assessing the city's infrastructure and landscapes.
The project's funding agency, Catbalogan City LGU, recognizes the need for more effective urban planning methods that can keep up with the fast-paced development and expansion of modern cities. With TANAW, the city hopes to leverage the power of AR technology to enhance the accuracy of its topographical and angular assessments of its various city works projects. By doing so, the city can ensure that its urban planning initiatives are both efficient and sustainable.
The grantee of the project, SSU's GIS and Data Analytics Center, is a highly respected academic institution that specializes in geospatial analysis and data visualization. The center has already established itself as a leader in the field of GIS and has been instrumental in various research and development projects that aim to leverage geospatial technologies for social and economic development.
One of the key features of TANAW is its use of projected AR technology, which promises to provide a highly immersive and interactive experience for users. The technology will allow planners and stakeholders to visualize the city's various infrastructure projects in 3D, allowing for a more comprehensive assessment of its impact on the urban landscape. Additionally, TANAW will enable planners to simulate various scenarios, such as how a new building or road network would affect traffic patterns, pedestrian flow, and other important factors.
The signing of the MOA between the concerned parties is nearing its completion, which marks an important milestone in the project's development. Once the MOA is signed, the project will officially commence, with the AVP premiere of the project being presented during the State of the City Address (SOCA) of Hon. Dexter M. Uy on 28th March 2023. The SOCA is a highly anticipated event that provides a platform for the city's leadership to update its constituents on its accomplishments, plans, and vision for the future.
In conclusion, Project TANAW is a promising initiative that has the potential to transform the way urban planning is done in Catbalogan City. With its cutting-edge technology and academic expertise, the project is poised to provide invaluable insights into the city's development, paving the way for a more sustainable and livable urban environment.
